HWI – business to business web portal

The B2B web portal was created to provide a place where retailers can find the best supplier and suppliers can advertise their services to retailers. This is an industry-specific portal that includes articles, quizzes, supplier directories, jobs listing, etc. Suppliers and other interested parties can have different options to advertise themselves: enhance directory entries, list jobs, publish press releases, have PPC banners.

The portal allows suppliers to register themselves, enter information about their company and edit it whenever they need. Company information becomes visible after the administrator approves (activates) new supplier account. Information can be shown in two ways: featured and regular. The difference between these two is in the information displayed to site visitors. In the search results and on the individual supplier’s page featured suppliers are displayed with logos and additional information. The site search allows searches by company name/description and products by category. To contact a supplier the visitor can use a special contact form on each supplier’s page.

The supplier’s system includes product descriptions: each supplier can have multiple products attached to the supplier. Each product includes image and subscription. Products from all suppliers are listed on separate sections of the portal where visitor can browse products by category.

In the jobs section companies can place their job vacancies that will be advertised to site visitors. The advertisement subsystem provides administration of the banner campaigns and allows displaying banners of different sizes and formats (image, html, flash), including branding the full site and selected pages with “site background” banner.

Another essential part of the system is the news system. The administrator can add news, and it can be edited, published on the date specified, deleted or hidden. Articles are shown on different pages according to the assigned category. Articles can be linked by keywords and linked articles are shown under the main body of an article. Site visitors can leave comments under each news article.

The administrator is also able to add video to separate sections, add and edit email templates for newsletters and prepare newsletters based on the news articles selected by date.

Also, the portal includes polls and security logic (role-based access to different site pages). The system has a desktop and mobile-friendly version.
